Please contact the relevant faculty for all queries regarding registration. Note: times and dates are subject to change.

All students registered to undergraduate Humanities programmes (with the exception of Semester Study Abroad students and Occasional Studies students who are not required to attend in-person advice and may register via PeopleSoft directly) require two levels of curriculum review in order to finalise their registration:

  • First level: an in-person advice session, per the below schedule.
  • Second level: conducted and incorporated into (Steps 12-14 of) the registration task on PeopleSoft (PS).

Importantly, students will not be able to proceed past Step 11 of their registration task on PeopleSoft without completing the first level of curriculum review. For select programmes, students will be directed to the Hold-lifting/PS Support Venue after receiving curriculum advice, where Faculty Office staff will lift their Academic Advice-hold upon receipt of a signed curriculum form.

Students must finalise their registration task or request approval on Step 12 of the registration task by Friday, 13 February 2026.

General programmes (BA/BSocSc)

BA and BSocSc students will book one-on-one advice sessions within the timeframes included in the below schedule. Preferred dates or times are not guaranteed, as sessions are booked on a first-come-first-served basis. This booking mechanism will be shared via Amathuba in due course, and further instructions will be shared via Amathuba announcements. First-year students will be guided through the advice booking process as part of the Orientation programme.

Returning students who sought early registration advice in 2025 (and passed all enrolled 2025 courses) need not book an advice session, unless they would like to amend their course selection. Instead, they may navigate directly to the Hold-lifting/PS Support Venue and present their signed curriculum planner.

Registration information for students

Please note that registration is an official activity in the academic calendar and students requiring advice are obliged to attend in their designated slot. The registration task should be submitted on the same day to avoid backlogs.

Students attempting to obtain advice outside their scheduled time slot without permission will not be accommodated.

A late registration fee of R2000 will automatically be charged to the account of any student who registers late. Waiver of the fee will be considered by the Dean only in the most exceptional of circumstances which must be fully motivated in writing.

All new International and SADC students must get fee clearance, and present their study permits and health insurance details to the International Office before they are scheduled to register.

Hard copies of the handbooks will not be available at the registration session venues. Instead, you may consult the online handbooks.
