Professor Harsha Kathard
At the beginning of May 2022, Council approved the appointment of Professor Harsha Kathard as Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning.
Professor Kathard is a Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders and Research Director of the Inclusive Practices Africa Research Unit. She is a C2-rated scientist who has published over 60 research papers and has extensive experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
17th Annual Schock Foundation Prize for Chamber Music
The seventeenth edition of this annual competition for ensemble playing, sponsored by the Schock Foundation. This final round will feature ensembles selected from the chamber music concerts throughout the year.
UCT String Ensemble

UCT Symphony Orchestra
UCT Symphony Orchestra performs the premiere of an overture titled “Ukuthwasa” composed by student composer James Geldenhuys. UCT’s Gerhard Joubert performs Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 and the concert ends with Brahms Symphony No. 3.
