The following are some awards that recognise excellence, a core pillar of the University of Cape Town's academic project.
Alan Pifer Research Award
The UCT vice-chancellor’s annual prize in recognition of outstanding welfare-related research highlights the university's strategic goal of promoting socially responsive research.
Creative Works Award
This award recognises major creative works by UCT staff, including art works, performances, productions, compositions and architectural designs.
Harry Oppenheimer Fellowship Award

NRF Awards
The annual National Research Foundation (NRF) Awards recognise and celebrate South African research excellence. They honour researchers for their career achievements and contributions to knowledge creation and dissemination, as well as capacity development and transformation.
NSTF-South32 Awards
The National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) in partnership with South32 each year honours excellence in science, engineering, technology and innovation.
Women in Science Awards
The Department of Science and Technology holds the annual South African Women in Science Awards to recognise and reward women scientists and researchers, and profile them as role models for younger women.
