Completing the application form

Visiting international students who are not taking UCT taught courses but wish to pursue research towards studies at their own university by using UCT’s libraries and other facilities, can apply to spend between 2 and 12 months at UCT as an occasional studies student.

Submit your application by completing the form and uploading the supporting documents. Your full application will be considered by the host department. We will inform you of the outcome by email.

Declaration and undertaking

Please read the declaration and undertaking below.  You will be required to acknowledge you understand and accept these statements to submit your application.

  1. I declare that, to the best of my knowledge and belief, the information I have provided is correct. Should the information be found to be incorrect or misleading, my application may be invalidated.
     
  2. If I am a minor (under 18 years old), my admission to the University of Cape Town is subject to the consent of my parent/guardian.
     
  3. I undertake to abide by the rules of the University.
     
  4. I hold myself responsible for the payment of all fees and other charges due and payable by me to the University for the period of my registration as a student as prescribed in the University’s Terms of Payment. If I am in arrears, I will be liable to pay interest at the rate of interest charged by the University’s Bankers from time to time from due date until date of payment and I will be liable for all costs of recovery, including fees charged by attorneys on the scale as between attorney and client and collection commission.
     
  5. I hereby waive all claims against the University for any damages or loss suffered while I am, or as a consequence of my being, a student of the University and arising out of death, bodily injury, loss of health or illness suffered by me or any other person and loss or destruction of, or damage to, any property belonging to me or any other person, howsoever such damage or loss is caused, including but not limited through the negligence of the University or any official, employee or representative of the University. I or my estate hereby indemnifies the University against any claims by any person arising in any way as stated above or in respect of my own negligence or willful acts or omissions.
