UCT statute and institutional rules

The University of Cape Town’s institutional statute was published and gazetted on 24 January 2020 in Government Gazette No 41, in Government Gazette No 42967 and amended under Government Gazette No 45954, Government Notice No 1793 of 25 February 2022. The university’s rules are adopted by the University Council to give effect to the UCT statute.

UCT Institutional Statute and Institutional Rules – as at 7 June 2024

The university’s policies and guidelines have been approved by Senate and Council. The student handbooks contain full information about the administrative rules and procedures relevant to students at UCT, and students are encouraged to download and familiarise themselves with the relevant faculty handbook/s, as well as all of the other university-wide handbook documents.
