Dr Sharon Munyaka

Dr Sharon Munyaka holds a Doctor of Commerce in Industrial Psychology from Nelson Mandela University. She is a Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) registered Industrial and Organisational Psychologist after attaining her Master of Commerce at the University of Fort Hare. She is also a Certified Principal Business Psychologist at the Association for Business Psychology (UK).

She has over 20 years’ of experience in positively transforming behaviour in the workplace. Working at an individual, team and organisational level, Dr Munyaka works globally supporting diverse organisations. She has been supporting leadership teams to create focus and productivity in uncertain times. Her scope of work includes facilitating conversations on diversity, equity, inclusion, and broader transformation topics.

Dr Munyaka is part of the Faculty at the Presencing Institute (MIT, Boston) as well as the Ubuntu Lab Institute (Africa), a sub-set of the Presencing Institute. Through the Presencing Institute, Dr Munyaka works on large-scale systems transformation across sectors such as the UN SDG Leadership Labs, global food systems transformation, and land regeneration interventions.

Dr Munyaka is an accredited mediator with Conflict Dynamics in South Africa as well as the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), UK. Dr Munyaka works on commercial and medical mediation matters.

Dr Munyaka is the Past President (2023/2024) and was President (2022/2023) of the Society of Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA). She previously served as a Deputy Chair (Health) and as a Director of Transformation on the board for Medicolegal Practice in South Africa (SAMLA). She is a recognised expert witness on civil litigation matters across South African courts.

Dr Munyaka serves on the board of Citizen Leader Lab (CLL), a non-profit focused on innovative leadership development that catalyses positive change in society. The CLL focus includes the Leaders in Education programme where school principals in partnership with business leaders work towards transforming education. Dr Munyaka also serves as a trustee for the SHL PBO focusing on advancing educational opportunities for industrial psychology students across South African universities.

Overall, Dr Munyaka is in service of her industrial psychology profession and uses her vocation to advance social progress.
