Professor Suki Goodman

Dean: Faculty of Commerce

Professor Suki Goodman was appointed as the dean of the Faculty of Commerce from 1 January 2022. She served as head of department for the School of Management Studies from 2018 until she was appointed dean. Before that, she headed the section of Organisational Psychology from 2010 to 2017.

She is highly acclaimed in her research areas, which include organisational behaviour and programme evaluation. She has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters and is part of the national editorial board of the South African Journal of Industrial Psychology. Professor Goodman is currently the programme leader for the Future of Work research programme under the South African Research Chair: Creation of Decent Work and Sustainable Livelihood.

Professor Goodman is a registered organisational psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and a member of both the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology (SIOPSA) and the South African Society for Monitoring and Evaluation (SAMEA).

She teaches both organisational psychology and programme evaluation and has for many years taught courses at the bookends (first year and master’s).

In 2017, she received the SIOPSA Presidential Merit Award for Academic Excellence in recognition of her dedication to institutional transformation in industrial and organisational psychology. In 2019 the Section of Marketing in the School of Management Studies won the Vice-Chancellor’s first-ever excellence award for Transformation.

Professor Goodman holds a PhD, master’s and honours degrees in organisational psychology from the University of Cape Town.
