Apply online
All postgraduates must apply online at: http://applyonline.uct.ac.za/.
Fee
You will need to pay an application fee once you have submitted your application and received your application details via email. Details on how much and how to pay this fee are available in the Directions for Postgraduate Applications document.
Deadlines
Postgraduate applications must be submitted by 30 September in the year before you will start studying.
Applications for master's and PhD courses by thesis (research), however, can be submitted and started at any time of the year in agreement with a supervisor.
Specific faculty and programme deadlines can be found in the Directions for Postgraduate Applications document.
Accommodation
If you are an international student hoping to stay on campus, you will need to submit your general UCT application by 30 September, the year before you will start studying.
Housing applications are made during the online application process. There is no separate application process.
Supporting information
Postgraduate students who haven’t studied at UCT before may need to provide certain supporting documentation. This may include academic transcripts, a CV showing work experience, and a research outline or motivation.
Confirmation of application submission
You receive an email confirming online submission of your application immediately.
Within three working days, you will receive formal acknowledgment of your application along with your applicant number and PeopleSoft log-in details.
Once you’ve logged in to PeopleSoft here, you can track your application online.
Note this acknowledgement does not mean you’ve been accepted or admitted to UCT.
Notification of outcome
If your application is successful, you will be sent an offer of admission. This may only be received two months or more after submitting your completed application.
The letter of admission will give details of the acceptance procedure. You should confirm acceptance of your offer using your PeopleSoft student account as soon as possible.
A non-refundable acceptance fee will be required to secure your place. This amount will be credited to your student fee account.
