UCT welcomes delegation from the A4U (Alliance 4 Universities)
The University of Cape Town recently welcomed a visiting delegation from the A4U, a consortium of four prominent universities in Spain, to discuss opportunities for international collaboration.
The A4U delegation included:
- Dr. Laura Santamaria Guitot, Vice-Rector for International Relations, UAB (Spain)
- Dr. Irene Martín, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, UAM (Spain)
- Dr. Carolina Marugán Cruz, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, UC3M (Spain)
- Dr. Helena Ramalhinho, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, UPF (Spain)
- Iris del Pino García Saavedra, International Project Manager, A4U
The host delegation from UCT was led by Professor Jeff Murugan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Research and Internationalisation, and included:
- Quinton Johnson, PhD, Director: International Office
- Dr. Alvaro Dombriz, Department of Mathematics and Applied Maths
- Ms. Judith Roberts, SSA Coordinator: International Office
The visit highlighted UCT's ongoing partnership with the A4U, formalised through an MoU’s and Erasmus Plus agreements with member universities. During the visit, the A4U delegation gave a presentation on the consortium's objectives, focusing on funded student and staff mobility programmes aimed at fostering international academic exchange.
