SARIMA Booklets Aid Innovation

The Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) have produced two very useful books and a CD that will help entrepreneurs navigate through IP management and protection as well as systems and support for innovation available in South Africa.

The booklets are entitled "Systems and Support Mechanisms for Developing, Protecting, Managing and Exploiting Intellectual Property in South Africa" and "Legislation and Policy Affecting the Development, Protection, Management and Exploitation of Intellectual Property in South Africa" and they are accompanied by a CD that contains all the relevant Acts, Policies and application forms. The package costs R200.

The booklets are useful guides to accessing funding or navigating the tricky issues relating to taking IP offshore, exchange control issues, etc. which are often key considerations for start-up companies especially where overseas investment needs to be accessed.
