UCT Wins at Innovation Bridge 2017

Innovation Bridge 2017 held in Midrand in Gauteng culminated in an award ceremony where there were five prizes for different categories. UCT was

honoured to receive the award for the “Innovation most likely to reach national and international markets” for the technologies related to Additive Manufactured Medical Devices.

The award included prize money of R 50,000 which will be put towards supporting further innovation activities in the area.  The team from RC&I and UCT Biomedical Division are shown together on the UCT stand at Innovation Bridge (L-R:  Francois Oosthuizen, Saberi Marais, Dr Sudesh Sivarasu, Gian-Carlo Beukes and Gokul Nair).  Prototypes of their various additive manufactured (3-D printed) medical devices were displayed on plinths and received a great deal of interest and attention.
