2012 SOUTH AFRICA SOLAR CAR CHALLENGE
Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) was established in terms of the TIA Act, 2008 (Act No. 26 of 2008) to stimulate and intensify technological innovation in order to improve economic growth and the quality of life of all South Africans by developing and exploiting technological innovations.
To achieve some of its objectives, TIA established a Special Projects Unit, which focuses in developing the culture of innovation and drives projects that are geared toward social improvement. As part of developing the culture of innovation, TIA is offering sponsorship to university teams that are interested in participating in the 2012 South Africa Solar Car Challenge.
South Africa Solar Car Challenge is a two week challenge, where university teams will build their own car, design engineering systems and race the solar-powered cars through specified South African road.
The challenge brings together skills and knowledge from teams across South African Universities, thus encourage spirit of creativity, knowledge sharing and youth empowerment.
Should you wish for participation of your university in this event, you are encouraged to circulate the attached advertisement to different units or to contact Dr Margaret Mkhosi on (021) 472 2717 or Margaret.mkhosi@tia.co.za for more information.
