John Newmarch, who has created a number of databases used across UCT, appropriated named the Intellectual Property Database "Leonado" after Leonardo da Vinci who was infinitely inventive and was an engineer, artist, anatomist, physiologist and much more. As John mentions "he designed many inventions that anticipated modern technology, such as the helicopter, tank, use of solar power and the calculator although few of these designs were constructed or were feasible in his lifetime".
