Mrs Tamlyn Shaw

Tamlyn Shaw joined UCT Research Contracts & Innovation in July 2026. She brings a unique combination of scientific training, entrepreneurial experience and business development expertise, having spent the previous eight years building Cape Bio Pharms, a UCT spin-out company. As a co-founder, shareholder and director, she worked across multiple areas of the business, including business development, sales, quality control and quality assurance, gaining first-hand experience in translating university research into commercial impact.

Tamlyn holds a Master's degree in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Science in Human Life Sciences and Psychology from Stellenbosch University. Early in her career, she spent two years in Asia as an English and Science teacher, an experience that broadened her global perspective and strengthened her communication skills.

Originally from Cape Town, Tamlyn is passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship and helping research-based discoveries create meaningful societal and economic impact.
