Mr Nick Mokotoane

Nick Mokotoane is an Innovation Commercialisation Manager at the University of Cape Town, where he supports the translation of research and innovation into impactful, real-world applications. He holds a Master’s degree in Science, with a focus on veterinary virology and genetics, as well as an Executive MBA.

Nick works closely with researchers to evaluate emerging technologies, develop commercially viable pathways, and guide innovations through key development stages towards market readiness. His role includes identifying market opportunities, supporting funding applications, and contributing to the strategic advancement of technologies across sectors.

With a strong interest in data-driven approaches, he integrates market analysis and analytical tools to inform commercialisation strategies and decision-making. Nick is particularly motivated by bridging the gap between academia and industry, enabling research outputs to deliver meaningful societal and economic impact.
