Dr Bruce Maseko

Innovation Commercialisation Manager

Bruce Maseko is an Innovation Commercialisation Manager at Research Contracts and Innovation (RC&I) and boasts over 15 years of technology commercialisation experience within academic and industry environments.  

Before his current role, Bruce was Regulatory Science Manager for Southern Africa at Bayer Crop Science, coordinating regulatory activities for various agricultural products. His leadership experience includes significant roles at AfricaBio, where he was general manager and acting CEO, effectively managing biosafety projects throughout Africa and providing strategic direction for deploying agricultural innovations. Bruce's professional background includes serving as Deputy Director at the Department of Science and Innovation and as Sales and Marketing Manager at Inqaba Biotechnical Industries, Africa's leading genomic company.

His areas of expertise encompass developing and implementing technology commercialisation strategies, managing innovation projects, conducting market research and techno-economic evaluations, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, intellectual property management, and business planning. 

Bruce's academic portfolio includes a PhD in Plant Pathology (UP), an EMBA from Quantic (USA), an MSc in Microbiology (UFS), and a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry (Unizul). He is also a member of the Southern African Research and Innovation Management Association (SARIMA). 

Bruce is passionate about bridging the gap between innovation and commercialisation and is committed to driving growth and innovation as part of the RC&I team.
