Meet your new SRC representitives

A few weeks ago it was impossible to go anywhere on Campus without spotting election posters or hearing some sort of commentary on the elections. We've all had candidates approach us in the food court urging us to vote and you may even have caught some of the debates. Now we just want to know who is on the council and what it is they are doing.

The elections were held between the 15th and 19th of September and since then we've been waiting patiently for the final results to be released. This delay was due to various disciplinary issues regarding the handing in of spending reports for the candidates' campaigns. The penalty for candidates not handing in reports was community service followed by disqualification should this service not be completed. Candidates who didn't hand in their reports on time were penalised with 5 hours community service immediately and a further five hours for every day after then that they failed to hand in. The community service is to be completed by second semester next year through a UCT development program.

See the full results below. The first seventeen names have been elected for the council with the runner ups being on standby in case of a vacancy next year.
