'Tis The Season For Sneezing

Ah Spring! The season that brings back the colour in the cheeks of the bleak Winter days. The sweet smell of freshly birthed flowers ooze through the air and the bees are buzzing (not in the trap, sorry).

But what we all forget, as we eagerly shed off the layers and coats of the rainy season, is that the bees are buzzing for a reason and that reason is POLLEN. Any chronic hay fever sufferer or allergy prone person cringes at the sound of that devilish word. They do a turtle motion of tucking their head back at the slightest utter of it. Six (666) letters of pure microscopic evil that inconspicuously flows with the fresh air and into your unsuspecting system.

It starts with a sniffle and ends in gunfire worthy amounts of sneezes (#ShotsFired). So how can we prevent these little demons from completely ruining our chances of soaking up the sun on fluorescent green pastures while smelling the roses?

First things first, find an allergy tablet that works for you- I recommend asking your doctor to suggest one for you or consulting a pharmacist. This season means you’ll be swallowing one of those puppies once or twice a day to keep the sneezes at bay.

Secondly, to avoid nasal diarrhoea or constipation a good nasal spray is a must- once again consult a doctor or pharmacist to find out what works for you. It’s so easy for these microscopic devils that shall not be named (pollen) to sneak up into your nose and tickle your skin, which is why a good nasal spray will help flush out the culprits.

Lastly, try to avoid pollen stuffed environments if you haven’t done either of the other two suggestions- that is just looking for an allergy attack. Swollen, tearing eyes and a runny nose with sneezes can ruin any good day out.

Prevention is better than cure. Together doped up on allergy meds and hope we can beat the pollen villains!
