We are proud to announce that the following shows and presenters have made it to the finals of these categories for the MTN Radio Awards:

Breakfast Show Presenter (Campus):

Duncan Patrick for “Rise and Grind”

Breakfast Show:

“Rise and Grind” – Duncan Patrick, Liesl Prinsloo, Dan Corder and Erik Mulder

News and Actuality Show:

“The Set” – Markus Hegewisch and Declan

News and Actuality Presenter:

Markus Hegewisch for “The Set”

Music Show:

“Top 30 Hitlist” – Julia Joubert

So we went around the station and asked some of our nominees how they felt about this achievement. When asked how he feels about being nominated in the My Station category, Markus Hegewisch, Outgoing Marketing Manager, says that “having UCT Radio nominated is the award in itself. Having never been nominated before, this is truly an amazing moment for UCT Radio, we are going up and that is something to be very proud of.”

Another question we asked him was: “Does talking about your passion (on The Set) help make your show more enjoyable?” He replied, “talking about what you love, makes doing the job so much easier. Declan and I hosted a show about film and gaming and both of us are very interested in the field, which motivated us to always find new guests, articles and to constantly improve our show.”

We then spoke to Duncan, and this is what he had to say: “Being nominated for two awards has truly been an honour. I’ve invested so much time into bettering my skill as a presenter and for this to be recognized makes me exceptionally happy! I can’t wait to see what the results are.”

Liesl Prinsloo, nominated as a part of the “Rise and Grind” breakfast team says about her fellow nominees: “It’s great that we’re all here, I’m proud of all of us and it’s been a real fun journey. We can only go up from here.”

We asked Erik: “How does it feel as the Programming manager to have received so many nominations?”

Erik: I am super excited and proud of all the nominations that we've received this year and I hope that they will inspire our other members of the Radio station and make them realise that anything is possible if one stays dedicated and one puts in the hard work.

The MTN Radio Awards Finale takes place on Saturday the 18th of April at the Sandton Convention Centre. We would like to thank all of our listeners for voting for us in the My Station Category and appreciate the support.
