Dr Naziema Jappie
Dr. Naziema Jappie is a Director and Deputy at the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). With over three decades of experience in leadership, she has consistently pushed the boundaries of traditional methods to create a dynamic and inclusive environment. Naziema is renowned for her work as a trade union activist for women's and workers' rights. She is a dedicated social justice activist and mediation practitioner, committed to fostering equality, equity, and justice in society. Born and raised in a community marked by socio-economic challenges, she developed a deep-rooted passion for advocating for marginalized groups. She has earned a PhD in Education, specialising in Social Justice. Her professional experience spans across various grassroots organizations, industry, and higher education, where she actively engages in mediation, racial justice, empowerment initiatives, and advocacy campaigns. Her tireless efforts have earned her recognition as a catalyst for change within her community and internationally. Driven by a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of education and unwavering commitment, Naziema remains steadfast in her work as an educator and mediator.
