Mediator

Johnny Leaka Van Wyk, security specialist, special events and major facilities, is a senior inspector at the University of Cape Town Campus Protection Service. He is also the general secretary of the Basotho and amaHlubi Cape Metro Initiation Committee (NPO).

In 2010, he began his journey in mediation with the British High Commission. He participated in a series of workshops with a local community mediation center, where he supported mediators in facilitating productive conversations between parties involved in various disputes.

As a mediator and restorative justice practitioner, his focus is on promoting peaceful resolutions and fostering positive communication among disputing parties. He is dedicated to justice and fairness, as evidenced by his extensive training and experience in restorative justice principles. This enables him to facilitate healing and transformation for both victims and offenders.

Having completed his training in Conflict Resolution and Mediation, he honed his critical thinking and analytical skills which is essential in identifying the underlying issues behind conflicts. He has also gained a comprehensive understanding of diverse dispute resolution approaches and the significance of ethical conduct in this field.
