Justine Burns
Justine Burns is a Professor in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She is a research associate at the university's Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDU) as well as the Research Unit in Behavioural Economics and Neuroeconomics (RUBEN). Her primary research interests are in behavioural economics, specifically focusing on discrimination, trust, social capital, social networks, labour markets, and intergenerational mobility. She has also published research on social assistance programmes and social cohesion. While she has a keen interest in programme evaluation and experimental design, her true passion lies in teaching, and she thoroughly enjoys engaging with students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Mediation experience and style:
Justine prefers face-to-face mediation, provided that all participants are willing and available to engage in this manner. However, she is also open to facilitating online conversations if that is the parties' preference.

Justine is interested in all areas of mediation, with a particular focus on workplace conflict, bullying, and harassment.
