Bruna Galvao
Bruna is a research program manager at the HIV Diversity Group in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Cape Town (UCT). She is also a member of the Division of Medical Virology Transformation and Equity Committee (Med Viro-TEC). Bruna has been a member of the UCT community for over 20 years, starting as a student in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology in the Faculty of Science (BSc – 2004, BSc Hons – 2005, PhD – 2010). She then worked as a Postdoctoral fellow in the same department from 2011 to 2015. In 2015, she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and spent about 2 years as a high school teacher before returning to UCT as a staff member. She has been working at the Faculty of Health Sciences since 2018.
Mediation experience and style:
Bruna's experience includes managing a diverse group of staff and being involved in youth development through Scouts South Africa and departmental outreach teaching projects. This has given her extensive experience in working with different people and effectively managing conflict. With her knowledge of the various structures at UCT, she is well-equipped to assist with both staff and student mediation.

Bruna has an interest in mediating areas of:
- Student – student conflict, and student – academic conflict
- Gender-based violence and sexual harassment
- Harassment/ discrimination based on gender, race and class
- Workplace conflict and staff well-being
