Professor Klaus-Jürgen Bathe
Klaus-Jürgen Bathe is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA. He teaches and conducts research in the areas of applied and computational mechanics of structures, fluids, and electromagnetics.
Professor Klaus-Jürgen Bathe also founded ADINA R & D, Inc. in 1986 (sold in 2022 to Bentley Systems, Inc.), where he led the development of the ADINA system, used worldwide for the analysis of structures, fluids, and multiphysics problems.
He has published numerous articles and books, and has been honoured through teaching and research awards, many honorary doctorates and in 2024, he was named the top living contributor over his lifetime worldwide in the development of the finite element method, see his webpage at M.I.T.
