Sharing research resources at UCT: help us find the right solution

UCT is home to a myriad research facilities and resources that provide not only instruments and equipment but also specialised support. These resources are expensive to buy and maintain, and often not used to optimal capacity or duplicated across the university.

To ensure sustainability and make UCT resources available to a wider research community, UCT eResearch, on behalf of the DVC for Research and Internationalisation, aims to implement a centralised booking and billing system to enable the sharing of facilities.

The objectives of this project include:

·      Making more effective use of our expensive research facilities

·      Enabling self-funding of facilities

·      Detecting and eliminating duplicated expenditure of research facilities.

To ensure the success of the project, we need to understand the needs of our researchers in all Faculties.

If you are involved in the management of a research facility (including large instruments, specialised software or technical support services), please take the time to fill out the survey in the link below.
