Adjunct Prof Penelope Engel-Hills

Penelope retired as Dean of the Faculty of Health and Wellness Sciences at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in January 2021. Since that time she has been appointed to the position of Adjunct Professor in the faculty and the Professional Education Research Institute. One function of this appointment is to run workshops on Responsible Research across all faculties. She has throughout her career occupied intersecting roles as a health care practitioner in medical imaging and radiation therapy, educator and researcher.

 

Penelope currently holds a ministerial appointment as the Chairperson of the National Health Research Ethics Council (NHREC). She is also a USAf appointee to the HPCSA and a member of a TVET College Council. Penelope is an active researcher with a C2 NRF rating. She has publications that represent her years of research in health sciences, professional education, and research ethics that demonstrate her ability to work in multi and transdisciplinary teams.
